Following the recent unveiling of the Pixel 9 series a few months ago, Google is now on the verge of introducing a more budget-friendly variant known as the Pixel 9a. Although the official release timeline has not yet been confirmed, it is expected to hit the shelves in March. A wave of rumors and leaks is emerging online, providing insights into the anticipated features and specifications. In this article, we’ll take a comprehensive look at what the Pixel 9a has to offer, including its features, specifications, and pricing details.

Recent video leaks have showcased the Pixel 9a’s design, suggesting it will move away from the classic bar-style camera module that has characterized previous models. Instead, the Pixel 9a is expected to feature a more refined, flush-back design. The leaks indicate that the rear panel will have a flat, matte finish, prominently displaying the Google logo in the center. On the right side of the device, you can find the power button and volume rockers, while the left side remains unblemished and sleek.

As for the display, the Pixel 9a is likely to sport a 6.3-inch OLED screen boasting a 120Hz refresh rate, HDR10+ support, and an impressive peak brightness of up to 2,700 nits. Although it has an aesthetically pleasing design, the bezels around the display may be somewhat thicker compared to those featured on the premium Pixel 9 models.

Underneath its stylish exterior, the Pixel 9a is expected to be powered by Google’s latest Tensor G4 chipset, coupled with 8GB of LPDDR5X RAM. In terms of storage, the device will reportedly offer options of 128GB and 256GB, utilizing UFS 3.1 technology. While the Pixel 9a will run on Android 15 out of the box, it is also projected to receive a considerable seven years of software and security updates, a mark of Google’s commitment to longevity.

In the photography department, whispers suggest that the Pixel 9a will come equipped with a dual-camera setup, which will include a 48-megapixel primary sensor paired with a 13-megapixel ultra-wide lens. For selfies and video calls, the front-facing camera is likely to host a 13-megapixel sensor as well.

When it comes to pricing, the Pixel 9a is rumored to be positioned similarly to its predecessor, the Pixel 8a. Reports from Android Headlines indicate that the pricing in the US and European markets will mirror the Pixel 8a’s launch prices from May 2024. Specifically, the Google Pixel 9a is expected to retail at €549 (approximately Rs 50,200) for the 128GB variant and €609 (around Rs 55,700) for the 256GB model. In the United States, the projected cost is $499 (approximately Rs 43,400).

For context, the Pixel 8a was launched in India for ₹52,999 (128GB) and ₹59,999 (256GB). Based on prior trends and reports, the base model of the Google Pixel 9a is likely to maintain a price of ₹52,999, while the 256GB variant might see a slight price hike to as much as ₹64,000.
