ToggleVodafone Idea (Vi) is poised to roll out its high-speed 5G services in the Delhi NCR region, effective from May 15. This marks a significant milestone in Vi’s extensive nationwide 5G rollout initiative. Users in Delhi will finally gain access to high-speed internet, following previous launches in key cities like Patna, Chandigarh, and Mumbai. The telecom giant aims to expand its 5G spectrum across all 17 designated priority circles by the end of August.
In a recent press statement, Vodafone Idea revealed that the 5G network in Delhi NCR is being developed in collaboration with Ericsson. This partnership focuses on establishing an energy-efficient infrastructure and integrating an AI-powered Self-Organising Network, ensuring optimal network performance. Similar to its competitor Airtel, the
Vi 5G network employs a Non-Standalone (NSA) architecture, facilitating a smooth transition for users between 4G and 5G networks.
Vodafone Idea has officially unveiled its Vi 5G recharge plans, starting at an affordable Rs 299. This attractive plan offers unlimited data for customers using devices that support 5G technology. The company’s goal is to provide users with rapid download speeds, enhanced streaming capabilities, and improved video conferencing experiences, along with better access to cloud services.
In addition to Delhi NCR, the cities of Bengaluru and Mysuru are the next on the list to receive 5G service under Vi’s ambitious Rs 55,000 crore capital expenditure plan, which will be rolled out over three years. A noteworthy statistic shared by the company indicates that 70% of Vi’s eligible users are already connected to 5G services in Mumbai, which is currently seeing 20% of its total data traffic coming from this new network.
