ToggleVodafone Idea (Vi) is making significant strides in the much-anticipated 5G market. For those who may not be familiar, the telecom provider commenced its 5G services in Mumbai last month. Recent updates reveal that the company is actively expanding its footprint into four additional regions, thereby enhancing its presence to five circles throughout the nation. Here’s a comprehensive overview of the Vi 5G rollout, which includes various cities and essential details.
The company has officially announced the launch of Vi 5G services in Delhi, Bihar, Karnataka, and Punjab. However, there has yet to be any confirmation regarding the addition of more locations within this month. It appears that Vi is now focusing on aggressively deploying its 5G services to compete with market leaders, Airtel and Reliance Jio.
Currently, Vi 5G can be accessed through select prepaid and postpaid offerings. For prepaid users, 5G access is available with a recharge of Rs 299 or more, while postpaid subscribers can enjoy the benefits with plans commencing from Rs 451. Reports indicate that the unlimited 5G services come with a cap of 300GB every 28 days, after which users may experience a reduction in speed.

For those who are not aware, Vi is implementing 5G through Non-Standalone Architecture (NSA). This approach means that the new 5G services are built upon the existing 4G infrastructure, allowing for a more expedient rollout to compete effectively with other established players like Airtel and Jio.
Furthermore, Vi has also expanded its 5G services to 11 significant cricket stadiums across various cities, including Mumbai, Delhi, Bengaluru, Chennai, Kolkata, and Hyderabad, among others. This move not only caters to sports enthusiasts but also enhances connectivity during major events.
To bolster connectivity in high-traffic areas, Vi has installed a total of 9 Cell On Wheels (CoWs), upgraded capacity at 44 locations, and launched 53 new 5G sites. With no specific limitations on access within these stadiums, cricket fans with 5G-capable smartphones can enjoy seamless, high-speed internet simply by enabling the 5G function in their device settings.
