Recent reports suggest that Starlink could roll out unlimited data plans in India at enticing promotional prices of under $10 per month, approximately translating to Rs 840. This strategy appears to be aimed at capturing a significant user base during the initial phase of its service launch. According to the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI), there might be an urban monthly charge of Rs 500, alongside a 4% fee on adjusted gross revenue, and a stipulated minimum annual fee of Rs 3,500 per MHz for the satellite spectrum. Additionally, Starlink will be subject to an 8% licensing fee to operate its services commercially within India.

Details regarding the hardware pricing in India have not been disclosed yet. However, in the United States, the standard Starlink setup is priced at $349, which is roughly Rs 30,000, while the compact version, known as Starlink Mini, is available for around $599 (approximately Rs 43,000). In terms of internet speeds, users in India can expect a range of 25 Mbps to 220 Mbps, depending on their geographic location and the coverage of the satellites.

Despite receiving a Letter of Intent from the DoT, Starlink still awaits final approval from the Indian National Space Promotion and Authorization Center.
