ToggleFor some time now, there have been persistent rumors suggesting that Apple is developing a foldable device, and recent leaks lend credibility to these speculations. It seems we may witness the launch of a foldable iPhone in the near future; however, potential buyers should brace themselves for a hefty price tag. A leak from the tipster Instant Digital, shared on the Chinese social media platform Weibo, indicates that the anticipated foldable iPhone could indeed be priced at over Rs 2 lakhs in India.
If these leaks turn out to be accurate, the iPhone Fold could carry a price tag between $2,100 and $2,300, which roughly equates to Rs 1.80 lakh to Rs 2 lakh in India, once taxes and import duties are considered. This pricing structure positions the foldable iPhone as more expensive than competitors like Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold 6, which retails at Rs 1,49,999, and Google’s Pixel 9 Pro Fold, priced around Rs 1.62 lakh. Additionally, this new model could be priced almost double that of the current iPhone 16 Pro Max, which starts at $1,199 (approximately Rs 1 lakh).
But what accounts for such a steep price point? According to leaks, Apple is planning to utilize premium-grade materials in this foldable device, including a cutting-edge liquid metal hinge that is purportedly more robust than titanium. Furthermore, the phone is expected to showcase a Samsung-manufactured 5.5-inch outer display alongside a stunning 7.8-inch foldable AMOLED display on the interior. When it comes to design, the phone might achieve a sleek thickness of just 4.5 to 4.8mm when unfolded, with a thickness of around 9mm when folded.
While Apple has remained tight-lipped about any official announcement regarding the launch of this innovative device, industry analysts are predicting a potential launch window in 2025. It will be fascinating to observe what unique features Apple offers with its foldable iPhone and how it positions itself in a market where Samsung currently holds a dominant share.
