Even though the US and China have suspended many tariffs, a significant 20 percent tariff on Chinese goods continues to have an effect. In response to these economic pressures, Apple has started diversifying its production capabilities. Notably, the company has ramped up the manufacturing of iPhones in India. According to reports, “India accounted for approximately 13 to 14 percent of all global iPhone shipments last year, and this figure is expected to double in the coming year.”

Rather than simply attributing the price increase to tariffs or rising costs in production, Apple appears to be concentrating on delivering a significant upgrade with the iPhone 17 lineup. While this could mean consumers will find themselves paying slightly more for the latest devices, the expectation is that the additional cost will be accompanied by notable improvements.
