ToggleIf you’re contemplating an upgrade to the latest iPhone model, it might be wise to budget a bit more than usual. Reports have emerged suggesting that Apple is planning to raise prices for its upcoming iPhone 17 series. According to insights from The Wall Street Journal, while tariffs play a role in this decision, Apple’s focus is likely on showcasing new features and design enhancements to justify the increased cost.
Even though the US and China have suspended many tariffs, a significant 20 percent tariff on Chinese goods continues to have an effect. In response to these economic pressures, Apple has started diversifying its production capabilities. Notably, the company has ramped up the manufacturing of iPhones in India. According to reports, “India accounted for approximately 13 to 14 percent of all global iPhone shipments last year, and this figure is expected to double in the coming year.”

On the other hand, the more premium models such as the Pro and Pro Max variants will primarily continue to be manufactured in China. These high-end models maintain strong popularity in the United States, with estimates from investment bank Jefferies indicating that between 36 and 39 million of the total 65 million iPhones sold in the US last year were these premium options.
Rather than simply attributing the price increase to tariffs or rising costs in production, Apple appears to be concentrating on delivering a significant upgrade with the iPhone 17 lineup. While this could mean consumers will find themselves paying slightly more for the latest devices, the expectation is that the additional cost will be accompanied by notable improvements.
In case you’re looking ahead, the current pricing for iPhone 16 models ranges from Rs 79,900 for the base model to Rs 1,44,900 for the iPhone 16 Pro Max. The anticipated lineup this year is expected to feature the iPhone 17, iPhone 17 Air, iPhone 17 Pro, and the iPhone 17 Pro Max.
