Apple Developing Budget-Friendly Vision Pro Headset and Ray-Ban Style Glasses with Meta

Reportedly, this project is among Cook’s highest priorities. “Cook has made this idea a top priority for the company and is hell-bent on creating an industry-leading product before Meta can. ‘Tim cares about nothing else,’ says someone with knowledge of the matter. ‘It’s the only thing he’s really spending his time on from a product development standpoint,’” Gurman elaborates.

In addition to AR glasses, Apple is said to be working on interim smart devices that could bridge the gap towards full AR spectacles. These new devices would be akin to Meta’s Ray-Ban smart glasses, which provide users with features to take photos, listen to music, and interact with Meta AI. Meta has already experienced success with a range of non-AR glasses designed primarily for photography and AI functionalities as it progresses toward augmented reality spectacles. Similarly, Apple is pursuing a temporary solution,” Gurman says. This could involve the integration of AI-powered cameras in upcoming versions of the Apple Watch and AirPods.
