The conclusion of Season 4 leaves Emily on the verge of an exciting new chapter in Rome. This time, she embarks on a romantic relationship with Marcello, a dashing Italian fashion heir, while settling into a new apartment as part of her role in aiding Agence Grateau in opening a new office in the Eternal City.
But don’t fret—Paris will still play a pivotal role in the narrative. “Emily’s going to have a presence in Rome,” Darren Star stated. “While she will be based in Rome, her connections to Paris remain intact.”
Star elaborated that relocating part of the storyline to Italy serves to keep the show fresh and engaging. “Marcello is a brand-new adventure that we envision for Emily,” commented Lily Collins. “We want to depict Emily smiling unconditionally and expanding beyond her vacation mindset, which is where he fits in perfectly.”
However, not everything will be straightforward. In the final moments of Season 4, Gabriel (played by Lucas Bravo), Emily’s on-again, off-again love interest, confesses that he still harbors feelings for her. Collins hinted, “Sadly, Gabriel will have to navigate the consequences of his choice.”
