GPT-4.1 achieves a remarkable score of 54.6% on SWE-bench Verified, surpassing GPT-4o by an impressive 21.4%.

These models support a context length of up to one million tokens, making them exceptionally well-suited for intricate tasks.

Introducing GPT-4.1 mini and nano: faster options that offer performance improvements at lower costs.

OpenAI has unveiled three innovative API models: GPT-4.1, GPT-4.1 mini, and GPT-4.1 nano. These new models bring significant enhancements in areas such as coding efficiency, instruction comprehension, and long-context understanding. As the successor to the GPT-4o lineup, GPT-4.1 is capable of faster processing speeds, improved accuracy, and offers an extensive context window that accommodates up to one million tokens.

As highlighted by the company, GPT-4.1 has achieved a score of 54.6% on the SWE-bench Verified benchmark, specifically designed for assessing software engineering tasks. This performance marks a notable 21.4% improvement over its predecessor, GPT-4o. Additionally, GPT-4.1 has scored 38.3% on Scale’s MultiChallenge benchmark, which evaluates instruction-following capabilities, reflecting a 10.5% enhancement. These advancements indicate that GPT-4.1 is significantly more dependable in generating code, adhering to guidelines, and managing complex assignments.

In a blog post, OpenAI elaborated on the capabilities of the GPT-4.1 models regarding context management. They can effectively process and analyze up to one million tokens of context, which is nearly eight times larger than the entire React codebase. This extensive capacity enables the models to excel in comprehending and retrieving information from lengthy documents, making them particularly suitable for sophisticated tasks that include legal analysis and multi-document reviews.
