Apple is experiencing noteworthy success in the Indian market, and CEO Tim Cook has shared that there are ambitious plans in store for the future.

Recent reports indicate that the iPhone has emerged as the leading smartphone in the country.

The expansion strategy for Apple in India includes the launch of four new offline retail stores.

Apple’s recent endeavors in the Indian market have proven to be fruitful. According to CEO Tim Cook, the company remains optimistic about its ongoing initiatives and is equipped with exciting plans for future growth. During the latest earnings call, Cook highlighted that the demand for Apple’s products and services in India is robust, and the company aims to increase its relatively small market share in this thriving economy alongside other emerging markets. He stated, “We have great results in a number of emerging markets, and as you know from past calls, particularly keen on India. India set a December-quarter record during the quarter.”

In a significant revelation, Cook noted that the iPhone stands as the top-selling smartphone in India. With Apple’s intelligence initiatives set to roll out in April, the company anticipates enhanced sales performance moving forward.

“The iPhone was the top selling model in India for the quarter, and it’s the second largest smartphone market in the world and the third largest for PCs and tablets, and so there’s a huge market, and we have very modest share in these markets, and so I think there’s lots of upside there, and that’s just one of the emerging markets,” Cook expressed, underlining the immense potential this market holds.

A significant element of Apple’s growth strategy in India includes the introduction of four new offline stores. The company has recently displayed a serious commitment to enhancing its physical presence throughout the country. In April 2023, Apple initiated this strategy by inaugurating its first two retail locations in Mumbai and Delhi, with plans for four additional stores in cities like Bengaluru, Pune, and expanded areas in Delhi-NCR and Mumbai.

Besides the new physical locations, Apple has also made strides with the launch of the Apple Store app, now accessible for download from the App Store. This application facilitates customers in India to shop directly with Apple, providing personalized recommendations and a seamless, customized shopping experience.

Demand for Apple’s products has been markedly strong across various sectors. Cook highlighted the collaboration with Zomato, a notable food delivery service in India, which has embraced Apple’s Mac products throughout its workforce to foster innovation and efficiency.

Additionally, Apple’s strategy includes manufacturing iPhones within India. Though this initiative began a few years ago, it is noteworthy that Apple commenced the production of Pro models in India this year, synchronizing with manufacturing in other regions for the first time.

On the financial side, Apple has reported impressive performance for its first quarter of fiscal 2025, concluded on December 28, 2024. The company noted a revenue of $124.3 billion, reflecting a 4 percent year-over-year increase. This growth has primarily been attributed to Apple’s thriving services sector, which encompasses the App Store, AppleCare, and Apple Music.

Apple’s CFO, Kevan Parekh, highlighted the company’s healthy growth trajectory. “Our record revenue and strong operating margins drove EPS to a new all-time record with double-digit growth and allowed us to return over $30 billion to shareholders,” he stated.
